A Queensland man who culled pitbull puppies to create a pack of savage canines for a national dog fighting ring has been jailed. Bradd Michael O'Keeffe, 41, kept more than 30 dogs chained on a remote north Queensland cattle property when RSPCA inspectors raided the property in April 2018. Inspectors seized 19 pitbulls, some badly scarred and infested with worms, and one so aggressive it had to be euthanised. Other dogs were kept in cages, including French bulldogs, pugs, dachshunds and a chihuahua. O'Keeffe claimed he kept the dog training 7 months dogs for pig hunting. But messages on his mobile phone revealed he trained his "monster" dogs for the fighting ring. He trained his dogs by pitting them against each other in fights at Mount Norma Station. The runts of the litters never made it that far. "Have thrown the last few litters in the deep end, cull them as they quit," he wrote. 'I don't need every dog out of the litter. " When O'Keeffe and another breeder discussed training, he admitted his dogs at times turned on him.
